How and when did you start doing CrossFit?
My wife (Julie) had joined about 5 months earlier after Erin Matta convinced her to try a class. Julie loved it right away and told me I had to try it. Eventually she convinced me and I gave it a shot…the rest is history!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Family? Job? Hobbies?
I live in the Village in Barrington with my wife, daughter Daley (who also goes to CFB), son Donovan and our two dogs Louie and Logan. I’ve been a soccer player my whole life and still try to keep up, although CrossFit has taken the lead in my interests over the past 2 years. For work I get to head to Beam Suntory (Jim Beam) in Chicago every day. Tough job, but someone has to do it!

Favorite WOD and Favorite Movement?
Backsquats and deadlifts are my favorites. As WODs go, I actually do look forward to MURPH every year.

Least favorite WOD and least favorite movement?
Squat snatch/overhead squat. After all my years of soccer, my knees have very little interest in these movements…but I try…

Your Favorite junk food?
Tortilla chips, can’t fight ‘em off.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want with you?
My family, a fully-stocked cooler and a boat (I don’t do well with stranded or being in one place for a long-time, so the boat is a must).

If you could create a WOD, what would it look like?
12 minute AMRAP. 10 pull-ups (now that I can do them), 15 weighted sit-ups, 20 box jumps and 1 heavy back squat
