How and when did you start doing CrossFit?
I was introduced to CrossFit in first quarter 2013 when a Box Owner wanted me to find him a larger location. I visited his gym to learn about his business needs and was intrigued on what I discovered. As the Owner explained the concept and the goals of CrossFit I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to recover from my latest shoulder surgery. I searched CrossFit Boxes near me and discovered CFB. I visited with Brian decided to give it a try, and then Andrew put me through a painful workout. I was hooked! I’ve never been a big person who buys into the ‘community’ aspect of anything, but the guys and gals at 5am make it easy to awake at 415am.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Family? Job? Hobbies?
My wife Vicky and I have two boys and a daughter. My Boys play football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and track, and keep me busy with games and practices. In between, we try and get to CFB to work out together. I founded a business where I help business owner buy and sell companies, while addressing finance and facilities needs. Hobbies are pretty hard to come by except for CrossFit and strength training.
Favorite WOD and Favorite Movement?
By far, LINDA! My favorite movement is tough to narrow down from anything weightlifting. I would probably say deadlift. I’ve never deadlifted before joining CFB, but it is just an awesome show of overall strength. Squats has to be close second. I wish I would have had access / knowledge to the CrossFit way of weightlifting and the CFB coaches when I was younger. My sons and daughter will have a huge advantage.
Least favorite WOD and least favorite movement?
I really enjoy the WOD’s that I’m terrible at. I may complain about them the morning of, but it’s the work you put in doing the stuff you are terrible at that makes you better. Before I learned double unders I would have said them. It is such a simple looking movement I would get incredibly frustrated by my lack of success.
Your Favorite junk food?
Ice Cream. Not just any ice cream, peanut butter blizzard from Dairy Queen. Large of course.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want with you?
An olympic bar and two 65 pound plates
