How and when did you start doing CrossFit?
How: I kept hearing murmurs (accolades actually) about CrossFit from a couple people I knew, I was in a “workout funk” that I needed escape from, and I was just purely curious.
When: December 4th – four years ago.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Family? Job? Hobbies?
Birth – current: I grew up in Chebanse, IL, a very small farm town about 2 hours south of here. I am a twin. I was born 7 minutes earlier – just say’n – than Keri. (Way to think outside the box Mom & Dad…hah.) I also have an older sister and brother. We didn’t have too much as kids, but we made the most of what we had. Wouldn’t change it for anything. My parents live in the house my grandfather was born in. Love hanging out with these peeps!!
30ish – current: I met my wife – Danyl. We got married as soon as it was legal. We have a daughter – Jayden, who is witty, kind, intelligent, funny, and keeps us on our toes. We also have two Weimaraners – Dylan & Josie Lee.
I continue to reap the best life has to offer with my family.
Job: Teacher. Middle School. Math. Waukegan, IL
Hobbies: I don’t sit down much and am open-minded about what keeps me busy. CrossFit. Yoga. Basketball. I am coaching Jayden’s team this season (ummm…super cute at this age BTW). I also like to tinker around with home improvement stuff, walk the dogs, hang out with family and friends, camp (glamping to be perfectly clear), fish, and take Jayden to and fro when requested or needed. That last one is a big one.
Favorite WOD and Favorite Movement?
Favorite WOD:
Long answer: In all honesty, I don’t have a favorite WOD. What is my favorite; however, is the feelings each WOD produces; before WOD jitters – always, during WOD “WTF,” or “Will this end?” or “This feels great,” or “I’m doing better,” or “Thanks for cheering me on,” or “WTF” or, or, or. Sometimes it’s the same and sometimes it’s new. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s not. But it’s always proof that I care about myself, that I am trying to get better, and that I am around people at CFB who are doing the same.
Short answer: feelings produced.
Favorite Movements: Rowing, KB Swings, Wall Balls, and Deadlift. Hi legs…welcome to the show.
Least favorite WOD and Least Favorite Movement?
I don’t want these movements to get a complex. It’s not that I don’t like them, I’m just not good at them…yet. TTB, DUs & Snatch.
Your Favorite junk food?
Listen, you can give me any type of chocolate and I will take it from you with open, loving, and forceful (allegedly) fingers. Friendships have been severed with others who “do not like” (what???) chocolate. So, my favorite junk food is….gummy worms. No really, chocolate.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want with you?
Assuming “items” are for survival, I would take: some sort of salt water filtering water bottle (do they exist?), spear/knife, and…a hammock (comfort matters).
Describe yourself in one word?
Unique…aren’t we all.
If you could create a WOD, what would it look like?
See favorite & least favorite movements…a mixture of the two. Partner WOD. Chipper.
